Countries

On Mexico olimpic games , took 5136 athletes representing 113 countries.
The country most medals won was the U.S.,but Checoslovakia was the least medals won

IMPORTANT MOMENTS


- Enriqueta Basilio became the first woman who lit the Olympic flame.









- Dick Fosbury won the high jump with an innovative torniquete which was given it's name.



¡- The athlete Bob Beamon (USA.), With his jump of 8.90 meters, set a new world record long jump that remained in force for twenty three years





¡- In the 100 m smooth, first ran in less than 10 seconds: Jim Hines did in 9.95 s.









- broke 22 world records in athletics.

Mexico 1968

¡The 1968 Olympic Games were an international multi-sport event. They were the first to be organized by a developing nation, a Spanish-speaking nation and even theupcoming games in Brazil 2016, unique in Latin America. Were held in Mexico, between 12 and 27 October 1968. Were conducted in the autumn, because Mexico City is affected by the rainy season from early May until early October .


The 1968 Games also saw the first drug disqualification, as a Swedish entrant in the modern pentathlon, Hans-Gunnar Liljenwall, tested positive ...... for excessive alcohol.
